This May as we celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month, Lighthouse is honoring the team members, individuals and first responders dedicated to fulfilling the needs our community. We believe hope and healing flourishes when we walk together.

150 first responders have received services through our Mental Wellness for First Responders program. Lighthouse has a dedicated team to serve the mental health needs of first responders, so they can receive treatment in a confidential and private setting.

6,188 calls were made to the 998 hotline in the last 30 days. Every call represents an Oklahoman reaching out for help. The hotline and partners from across the state, including Lighthouse, continue to meet the needs with a 99.1% answer rate.

Our clinical teams served about 10,000 individuals in 2024. Each individual received services tailored to bring health to the whole personmind, body and emotion.

KNOW WHAT TO
LOOK FOR?

Stay alert to the signs of someone in need, like changes in mood or behavior, you could save a life. Here are some signs to look for​

  • Excessive worrying or fear.

  • Feeling excessively sad or low.

  • Confused thinking or problems concentrating and learning.

  • Changes in behavior or feelings.

  • (For kids) Decrease in grades, changes in usual behavior or stomach problems.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF TO TAKE CARE OF OTHERS.

You can't pour from an empty glass. To better help those around you, its important to take care of your need. It's not selfish, it's essential to building a healthy community.

Prioritize sleep

  • Plan to get 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night.

  • Establish a regular sleep schedule, including the weekends.

  • Create a relaxing, bedtime routine to wind down at the end of the night.

Exercise regularly

  • Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise 4 to 5 days a week.  

  • Choose activities you enjoy, such as walking, jogging, swimming or dancing.  

Try new activities

  • Find relaxation wellness programs and/or an app that can guide you through meditation, muscle relaxation or breathing exercises. 

  • Schedule regular time for relaxation and other activities such as listening to music reading or spending time in nature.

Set goals and priorities

  • Decide what must be done now and what can wait 

  • Learn to say “no” to new tasks if you start to feel like you’re taking on too much. 

  • Try to appreciate what you have accomplished at the end of the day.
