Showing genuine care can create a network of support that provides hope to someone who feels alone. Know the Warning Signs
 

Are you wondering if someone you know is considering suicide? Look for a change in their behavior or the appearance of entirely new behaviors. Here are some warning signs most people who take their lives will exhibit, either through what they say or do:

  • Having no reason to live

  • Being a burden to others

  • Feeling trapped

  • Unbearable pain

Behaviors that may signal risk, especially if related to a painful event, loss or change:

  • Increased use of alcohol or drugs

  • Looking for a way to end their lives, such as searching online for methods

  • Withdrawing from activities

  • Isolating from family and friends

  • Sleeping too much or too little

  • Visiting or calling people to say goodbye

  • Giving away prized possessions

  • Aggression

  • Fatigue

Talking to someone about suicide can feel awkward and uncomfortable. But, if you have concerns, breaking through your own discomfort could save a life. Showing your concern and directly asking about suicidal thoughts can be vital first steps in helping someone get the support they need.

QPR 
Training

QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training is a suicide prevention program designed to teach individuals how to recognize, reach and support those struggling with suicidal thoughts. This training will equip you with the practical skills and confidence to intervene in a crisis.
